Hi everybody. This is my first blog for the site and I’m a little nervous. Then again, I look at all the videos my dad’s got up and I think I can put myself out here too. So, spring’s here and there are lots of new outdoor oppurtunities, and with a beautiful sun shining most of the time, like it is right now here, there’s really no excuse to not get outdoors. Enjoy the day!
The weekend’s coming up, so go for a walk, get on a bike, find a hiking trail nearby and follow it as long as you can. Get some sun. The sun is our primary source of Vitamin D. Vitamin D allows our body to process calcium. Calcium helps us maintain strong bones and slows bone deterioration in the elderly. So getting at least 15 minutes a day of sun exposure is important.
My preferred outdoor activity and means of getting my daily sun is biking. There’s lots of great road biking routes around where I live, so if I want that kind of experience, it’s available to me. I’m also a mountain biker and living here in Marin, the birthplace of the sport, is just great. There are tons of great offroad trails. For the more extreme mountain biker, there’s a lot of fast, downhill, single-track routes. Going down one of those full speed will get your adrenaline pumping, I can tell you.
While I’m taking advantage of the sun as much as I can, there are still some rainy April days. When these days come up, I’m not really the type to put on the rain gear and get out there. So I go down in my basement, pop in an ABBR video and get on my treadmill. I can hear the rain coming down, but what I see in front of me is a pristine country road on perfect sunny day. That’s what I like most about ABBR, nothing can stop me from riding on a great day, not even crummy weather.
Alright, that’s all from me for now. I want everyone to have a wonderful spring. If it’s sunny where you live get outside and get your 15 minutes of Vitamin D. If it’s raining, still keep yourself active. If you have fitness machines use them. If you’ve got weights lift them. If not do some pushups and pullups and all the other body resistance based exercises. Oh and if you have a machine and want to make your workout on a gloomy day a little brighter, consider heading over to the ABBR store. You won’t be dissapointed.
